World Choreography Award celebrates excellence in the art of media choreography

The World Choreography Awards is an annual live show that celebrates creativity and innovation by recognizing excellence in the art of media choreography.

The Greatest Showman faced off against Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Descendants 2 and Bring It On – Worldwide #Cheersmack at the 8th World Choreography Awards held at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills.

Winners of the Choreo, recognizing excellence in choreography in movies, TV, music video and other media, were announced at the ceremony, and the Joe Tremaine Legacy Award, honoring dance-makers who changed the face of dance, was presented to Debbie Allen.

The event was produced and directed by Allen Walls and Cheryl Baxter-Ratliff and featured performances by World of Dance 2018 winners “The Lab”; Jade Hale-Christofi, choreographer of “Take Me to Church” with Sergei Polunin; Debbie Allen Dance Academy; and USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. 

Special guests included Anita Mann who announced the creation of an “Emerging Artists Fund”, Jeff Goldblum, Jared Harris, Scott Michael Foster, David Hull,Glorya Kaufman, Christopher Scott, Harry Shum Jr., Savion Glover, Gleb Savchenko and his wife Elena Samodanova, and Lil’ Buck.
