Nestled in the heart of downtown Pasadena's creative scene, Hotel Dena, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, invites guests to immerse themselves in a world of art, music, and culture. Recently opened with 311 rooms, this boutique gem is not just a place to stay but a canvas that celebrates the individuality and creativity of its guests. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a glass of champagne, setting the tone for a stay that combines luxurious comfort with a touch of avant-garde flair.

A Creative Haven with Retro Elegance

The guest rooms at Hotel Dena are a harmonious blend of comfort and creativity. The retro film-inspired decor, including a vintage record player and film projector, evokes a sense of nostalgia, while photography of Pasadena landmarks in the rooms create a sense of connection. We stayed in a spacious double room that provided ample storage space and created a clutter-free environment. The bathroom, equipped with quick-heating showers and excellent vanity lighting, adds a touch of practical luxury. The balcony, overlooking the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, and the vibrant murals of Los Angeles contribute to the property’s unique charm. USB ports in nightstand lamps also added a modern touch for convenient charging.

Stellar Service, Minus the Stiffness

Hotel Dena's service is a refreshing departure from the usual formalities. Courteous and approachable, the staff dons cool black and white outfits with suspenders, creating a relaxed atmosphere. A glass of champagne upon check-in adds a touch of luxury without the stuffiness commonly associated with high-end hotels.

Culinary Delights Inspired by Music and Art

Lyric, the hotel's restaurant, takes inspiration from the rebellious spirit of rock and roll, alternative vibes, and hip-hop beats. The inventive breakfast and lunch options reflect the lyrical genius of musicians and poets. We opted for in-room dining and it offered a comforting experience after a long day of sightseeing. Our seafood and steak dishes were incredibly fresh and well-seasoned. For a vibrant after-dinner experience, pop into Agents Only, the hotel bar, which offers plush seating and a live DJ playing classic pop hits, creating an atmosphere of lively sophistication. And if you’re craving a snack or need something on the fly, there is a Grab-and-Go market with easy self-checkout, which means you can grab what you need without any hassle.

Hotel Dena attracts a diverse crowd, with a particular allure for those attending events at the Pasadena Convention Center and staycation aficionados. Its proximity to old town Pasadena, Pasadena City Hall, and other landmarks makes it a convenient choice for those eager to explore the city's Mediterranean and Spanish colonial revival architecture. Their pool area is also a haven of relaxation, with lounge chairs, cabanas, and a separate seating area for unwinding with friends. Grab a floatie, soak up the California sun, and let the stresses of the day float away.
